I started competitive running during my freshmen year of high school in 2002 for Shaker High School in Latham, NY. I ran high school cross-country and outdoor track all four years. I did indoor track my last two years of high school. From there I went on to compete in cross-country, indoor and outdoor track all four years at the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduating in the spring of 2010, I started concentrating on longer distances beyond the mile and 8K. Since then I have run in 6 Army Ten Milers, 5 Half-Marathons, and 4 Marathons. I am currently a Captain in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, and I live with my lovely wife, Ingrid, in Fayetteville, NC.

Half-Marathon - 1:12.45

I ran my first marathon when I was 17 years old. It was Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota; I ran it again a year later and then again ten and eleven years later. My best marathon time sits at a 3:09:09; my best half marathon was run in Hawaii with a time somewhere around 1:28. Carrying a 40-lb ruck sack, I won the Bataan Memorial Death March Women’s Heavy Rucking marathon a few years ago with a time around 5:35:00. I’ve done one race a month for the last three or four years and I usually place in the top 3 or top 1%. (Can we say too many t-shirts?) But I will say again: Who couldn’t run with a light heart and a fast stride in places like that, in honor of heroes like our soldiers, among people like those volunteers? How could I fail?

I’m honored to continue on this victory lap of running with Fleet Feet Sports Runner’s Spot here in Fayetteville. I hope to be one of the people who supports YOU in your running efforts to make it joyful and effortless! And if you have any other questions about running or want to know about local trails/running routes, I can tell you anything you want to know—including which port-a-potties to avoid, how many giant spiders there are in some of these woods, and how to deal with nagging running injuries. I teach yoga at a local studio-ClearedHot Yoga in Spring Lake-and you can find me on Facebook or on here through Fleet Feet Runner’s Spot!
